The DCJS 32i – Personal Protection Specialist online training course is designed to provide comprehensive in-service training for professionals in the field of personal protection. This course fulfills all DCJS requirements for Personal Protection Specialist (PPS) in-service training.
Objectives:
- Understand the role and responsibilities of a Personal Protection Specialist.
- Recognize the limits of arrest authority and the implications of civil liability in personal protection.
- Apply best practices to ensure the safety and security of the protectee at all times.
Overview:
As a Personal Protection Specialist, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and vigilance is crucial. This course focuses on the unique responsibilities of a PPS, including the critical importance of never leaving the protectee unattended and understanding the legal boundaries of your role. Although PPS do not possess arrest authority, their actions can still lead to civil liabilities, particularly in the form of torts.
Participants will learn about the definition of arrest authority, the distinction between lawful arrest and actions permissible for PPS, and strategies to prevent potential legal issues. Emphasis will be placed on maintaining rigorous protocols to ensure the safety of the protectee and managing situations to avoid civil wrongs.

Upon successful completion and passing the final exam, your training completion will be automatically reported to DCJS. Your certificate of completion will be available in your Online Training Dashboard.
